Abstract: Oral verrucous carcinoma (OVC) is a malignant tumor with independent histological changes and biological behaviors different from those of oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCC). Its etiology is still unclear. It has the first clinical diagnosis coincidence rate of only 35% and is often misdiagnosed as other oral diseases such as verrucous hyperplasia, odontogenic keratocyst, aggressive periodontitis and chronic osteomyelitis. The treatment and prognosis of OVC are different from those of OSCC. Its misdiagnosis and mistreatment seriously affect patients' quality of life. In order to reduce misdiagnosis and mistreatment of OVC and to improve its early diagnostic rate, patients' survival rate and quality of life, it is necessary to establish an expert consensus on this tumor according to the national clinical conditions.
