Research progress on socket shield technique concurrent with implantation in aesthetic area

Abstract

Abstract: Resorption of labial bone plate due to teeth extraction can affect the aesthetic outcome of maxillary anterior teeth negatively, therefore, socket shield technique was introduced to reduce labial bone loss by preserving bundle bone-periodontal ligament apparatus. This article reviewed related literatures of socket shield technique in recent years, summarizing the advantages and limitations of the technique compared with conventional immediate implantation, and factors that influence its effectiveness.
