Abstract: PURPOSE:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of vacuum sealing drainage assisted washing technology and traditional incision and drainage in the treatment of severe multiple infection in oral maxillofacial and neck region. METHODS: The date of 73 patients from June 2014 to May 2017 in our hospital, who had severe multiple space infections in oral maxillofacial and neck region were analyzed retrospectively. Among 73 patients, 38 were treated with vacuum sealing drainage assisted washing technology, while 35 were treated with traditional incision drainage. Healing time, surgical scar length, work intensity (the time of dressing change), the costs of treatment of 2 groups were compared with SPSS 22.0 software package. RESULTS: All patients were cured. Compared with traditional incision drainage, the healing time, surgical scar length and work intensity in cases with vacuum sealing drainage assisted washing were shorter or lesser, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in the cost of treatment between the two groups(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Compared with traditional incision drainage group, vacuum sealing drainage assisted washing technology for severe multiple space infection in oral maxillofacial and neck region can achieve better clinical outcome, which makes faster healing, shorter scar, higher effectiveness, and thus is worthy of wide application.
